The 2024 Miles Morland Foundation Creative Writing Workshop in Zanzibar was unforgettable. Led by the brilliant Giles Foden, author of The Last King of Scotland, a few African writers (myself included) gathered to refine our craft.
Giles brought out the best in our work, helping us dig deep as we reviewed each other’s stuff. It wasn’t all serious, evenings spent swapping stories and laughs over seafood dinners.
Sure, I didn’t win the MMF scholarship last year, but being invited to this workshop was a victory in itself.
